One of the quiet barriers to a first yoga class is thinking you need special kit. You don't. Here is the whole list.
What to bring
- Clothes you can move in. Leggings or shorts, and a top that won't ride up when you fold forward. No special gear, no logos required.
- Water. A bottle is plenty.
- A mat, or £1. Bring your own if you have one. If not, rent one of ours for £1 a class. No need to buy anything before you know you like it.
- Bare feet. Yoga is done barefoot, so the trainers stay by the door. Socks come off on the mat too, they slide.
- Yourself, as you are.The most important thing, and the easiest to forget to pack: no expectation that you'll be any good at it. Beginners are the point here.
What to leave at home
- A full stomach. Try not to eat a big meal in the couple of hours before. A light snack is fine if you need it.
- The comparison. Whatever the person on the next mat is doing has nothing to do with your practice. Leave the measuring stick at home.
That really is it. If you have other questions, the FAQ covers parking, timings and the rest, and our beginners guide walks you through your first visit.
